what's your position on what president obama did this week? >> as you and i talked earlier, i want to know what he's going to do next. he didn't just say what he said because he wanted to inform people in a moment of clarity. i believe for 20 years he's known that he's been for same-sex marriage, but he didn't flow whether he wanted to inject that issue into the political arena. it's happened. i want to know what will it mean. how will it change things? in a couple of weeks i'll be asking for a hundred strong black men and women to come to washington, d.c. and prayerfully meet with the the president and his surrogates, and we want to hear from them clearly from his words what he's going to do. are we going to have more intrusions into the culture? the lack of actually following through with doma, things of that nature. what is the president going to do? >> professor hendricks before we get to your area of expertise, biblical interpretation. is this more an issue of justice than religion? give us a sense of your understanding of the issue. >> i

the obama campaign went right after the romney campaign on this today. as he's getting face to face confrontation from teachers as he's supposed to be rolling out his education ideas as the obama campaign goes after him it will be interesting to see if they stick on it as something they will run on and the idea bigger class sizes are cool. if they really do want to change the subject 0 education and want mitt romney to be running on this and what they tried to change it to this week, there are other big new heretofore untried idea they're putting forward that has a contrast with what president obama has done, other proposals besides larger class sizes is this from his education white paper, he wants to repeal the change president obama made to student loans. they want to get rid of that. he wanted to repeal what president obama did. you want to know what he did to student loans? it sounds like a finicky little change, turns out to make a lot of sense and save a lot of money. if you're a person who had a lot of federally supported student loans, this will

president obama remains a maker of history. he was the first african-american to serve as our president, now he's the leader of another kind. the first leader to state his support for recognizing the marriage of partners of the same sex. however the circumstances, he now stands for re-election with this fact on the table. he stands against a candidate, mitt romney, who says he will never give up his opposition to the gay marriage, a candidate who refuses to stand up for a gay man who was just run out of his campaign. can there be a grander canyon between these two men? one in support of the right of gay people to marry, one totally against that. i have to wonder how gay men and women who now work for the re-election of members of congress and romney himself can sit in their work seats and ask them to join the president on this. i have to wonder how long they can remain indentured servants, how longer they can continue to accept the don't ask, don't tell rule that you can work here, as long as you keep your mouth shut on the lif

the obama campaign has also responded. it is shock can that a candidate for president of the united states would go behind closed doors and declare to a group of rich donors that half of the american people view themselves as victims, entitled to handouts and are unwilling to take personal responsibilities for their lives. it is hard to serve as president for all americans when you disdainfully have written off half of the nation. and that is exactly what mitt romney has done with this statement here of behind closed doors. for months on this program, i have asked will mitt romney please stand up? in this video, behind closed doors, we did see the real mitt romney, he did stand up. he doesn't give a damn about the people, we are a society, it cuts to the fabric, we are a country of compassion that we want to help people who are downtrodden, people who have been dealt a tough deck of cards. whether it be the economy or health care, or through no fault of their own. circumstances put on families that are totally out of their
